The stock market is pissing me off right now.
Nothing strange and unusual is going on. But we hear that oil is going slightly
down and the market drops. We hear that oil is going slightly up and the market
rebounds (Doesn't oil going up make everything more expensive and therefore
raise inflation and reduce demand?) Then we hear that inflation is up (because
oil and workers wages are up, I thought higher wages were a good thing?) and
then the market drops like a stone.
I am pretty smart guy, but I just don't understand what is happening here. We
have a strong growing economy, higher wages, and the market takes a beating.
The "experts" have been predicting a real estate crash since the
first indication of higher prices. Where's my crash? I would love to see it
happen so I could buy up entire neighborhoods at 7K per house.
I can't confess to have a perfect strategy but right now my bias is toward
cash. Cash is king and money markets are returning around 5% risk free. With a
30 year time horizon and investing a little bit (dollar cost averaging) every
month might make sense in this clusterf*&k but right now nothing else seems
to.
