It's me. I did it. I am still doing it. Worst of all I'm not sorry and I'm not going to stop.
I have been reading articles lately that finally the downturn in the Economy is causing Americans to stop buying crap they don't need, build some savings, and try to live within their means. The article follows up to say that because we are not spending more than we make we are going to slow down the demand for products which will create lower sales and result in more stores and manufacturers to go out of business.
Wow, I just just love the way the media always has to end on the down note of what is generally a positive trend.
Here's what I do.(Why I am guilty) I plan on having emergency savings. I have a household budget that doesn't exceed our paychecks. I decide to spend money only on things are are really required and save money to buy the special gifts and items we really want.
I'm the villian. People like me deciding not to prop up the sellers of things I don't need. Here is the rub though. We responsible savers will survive an economic setback and the spenders will not. Of course we will also pay taxes to bail out the irresponsible but I suppose that is just the unfairness of life.
